As part of wider regeneration ambitions, Wakefield Council acquired The Ridings as part of ambitious plans to transform Wakefield city centre, and create a new Cathedral Quarter focused on leisure, living, and events.

Representing a significant step in the Council’s vision to transform the city centre and strengthen Wakefield’s position as a destination for residents, businesses and visitors, the acquisition is intended to unlock major redevelopment opportunities, increase city-centre footfall, and support long-term economic growth.
